Commissision info

"Werewolf Comic page 1"

Page one of a neat werewolf comic commission based "loosely heh" on an old old episode of animaniacs. Hence the basic design of mr wolfy here with the blue fur and pink nose. (general cartoonyness)

"Page 2 of nifty wolf comic of niftyness"

And page 2, more muscely muscles, tearing of the clothes, bursting of the shoes and a healthy "rawr" infusion makes any night wandering around an exercise in rambling for no reason at all but to fill space. Ended up having to widden the gutters (spaces between panels) around his little "foot-paw" insert, it was a bit cluttered as originally drawn.

"Page three of blue wuff of DOOM" again

Page 3, cute floofly tail makes its appearence and even more muscles of the buffness swell up all over our victim. Lots of hair, growling, growing and snarling sounds. A stretching face and quasi-bishie-ness heh heh. I used photoshop to stager the pannels at the bottom just for fun.

"ZOMFG!! a WEREWOLF (comic page 4)"

And the final splash of Blue wuff guy wearing whats left of his widdle pants and posing for the "camera" Whole series drawn on trusty bristol board pad, inked with the microns of greatness Scanned and colored in painter 8. Photoshop was used for some random touch ups and the fonts. I really like how it came out. it feels a little rushed to me in the middle(the four page limit on commissioned comics is to keep them from ballooning into too much work) With the 4th page being a splash. In future comics i may opt for smaller panels. That first page especially seems a bit empty and I could have probably used the space better. Live and learn. First comic ever actaully "completed" by me heh heh. More to come in a similar vien (comics not wolf guys) I may end up creating a seperate page for the loger of them (a cabbit and a cat and a mouse that i havent forgotten about..*cough) so i can update them as they move closer to completion and not have them become a source of the dreaded burn out.

"Character portrait for J.D."

Fox Character Portrait for a J.D.(who i had always thought was a rabbit, heh). Brooklyn-esque Gargoyle (used to draw the hell out of these), sans wings, with a thing for lightsabers and a bad eye. Drawn with me microns, colored mostly in Painter 8. Decided to light the pic with his saber (ever notice how those things dont actually give off "light" in the old movies?) and the glow from his good eye. Twas a fun little experiment that turned out well.

"Super strong Kangaroo lady for J.D."

Big Buff Kangaroo for J.D. picking up a boulder to show off her guns. Not too much trouble with this pic. Almost pulled a Liefield with her legs till i decided to simply have her taking a step with her cargo. Kangaroos are odd criters. Will have to draw more of them :D

"A guy turning into a frikin predator alien @_@ for "Fury"

Now I wonder why ive never seen this done before?. OPEN WIDE!!! LOL. A guy, turning into predator... yeah... Microns and painter and a movie about predators went into the production of this handsome chap. Used one of painters nifty gouche tools to give the wall behind him some texture (damn near crashed computer)

"Shina doing her thing" for Fury

Shina from bloddy roar turning into a leopard. This is one of those pics that i liked when i started but hated by the time it was done. Its good "in theory" but something about the execution of it just leaves me cold. Colored in painter 8 per all my recent pics. I think it fell into that "the more you know, the more you know you dont know" trap that ive mentioned before.

Loss Prevention, or, DONT TRY TO STEAL CHAOS EMERALDS YOU IDIOT!! for Fury

Another subject you never really see. An unwitting guy being Echidna-ized by a chaos emerald. Went for cuteness primarily here. Old computer drowning delayed this ones completeion buy a LONG time. Microns and a metric ton of painter made this one.

"Fox Character Portrait for "anonymous""

Fox Character Portrait for a nameles benefactor. He wanted a "confident", "Fox McCloud-ish" vibe with this (Of "Starfox" fame). Took Longer than it should have due to all the comp problems on my end (loosing pics SUCKS). Done with Microns N' Photoshop. Lost my copy of painter 7 when old HD died :( but, I'm making due by trying some new coloring tech's in photoshop.

"Mia Shiranui Foxing out" for "anonymous"

Mai From Fatal Fury 2 Turning into a "vixen", or "fox" as I tend to call them. More fun with color. I "like" this pic but there are a couple of quirks here and there that I'd change if given the chance (when SNK section gets going perhaps). As I learn more artsy crap, more errors become apperent to me that I didnt know to look for before. Oh well, tis the nature of the beast. Microns and photoshop agian. "Nippon Ichi"

"Cheetara, turning into a more cheetahey cheetah" for "Anonymous" again

Its odd that people dont ask for more of these. Cheetara from the old 80's mainstay "Thundercats" (almost...makes...ME want..to speak with.. many.. UNNATURAL.. pauses...) ahh, memories. Anyway. Here's Cheetara shedding all that pesky humanity. Now, I know cheetara is popular but she has the UGLYIEST color scheme in the universe (brown yellow and oragne? GAH) So i tried to throw some contrast into the background (even tho its obviously based on the shows opening) by adding the "thundercat" symbol and attacking it with hand drawn color dodge glows (the purple glow around cheetara) to at least make that hideous outfit "pop" (pun). I drew this pic twice (well 3 times actually) as the working file was lost in HD death. Then I decided I hated the old one(s) and redrew her as a more feral beastie. (you can find the old versions in the "crappycritter" section) Microns and photoshop with digital spots. !

"Roary the lion cub version 3" for Claw

He's BaaaAAACK!! Roary redesign for pic three, swingin' from a tree. Made him cuter and younger, with meatier Paws (people seem to like them meaty). Also the first example of a some new coloring tricks im experimenting with. Certinly gives a more "anime-ish" cartooney feel than airbrushing. Especially with photoshops overly fuzzy airbrush killing color contrast. You'll be seeing more experimantal stuff in the future. Microns and photoshop.

"Fox from the original Bloody Roar for Fury-151"

Fox going foxy. Base colors in photoshop. Touched up in painter to make it look funky. I'm begining to dislike photoshops "airbrushey" look, its just too muddy. With these lastest pics ive been using painter more, and firmer brushies for shading and whatnot. it just looks better and lets me add a little more depth to the shadows without getting muddy. This is commission one of two for Fury. Second pic will be appearing probably in the next update.

"Bunny bodybulider" for JDrabbit

Musclebound bunny showing off for the camera. A bit chunkier than even MY females (Mr. rabbit likes the err.. "large" ladies) LOL, but it turned out rather well. Good practice. Microns and painter with a lil bit of photoshop.

"Portait of gareth rehal"

Gareth the wolf-dog, looking cool as is his way. :) Went with a bit of a "prirate" motiff. and he has a beard like me woooo heh. Micorns and painter and photoshop. That fonts called Degrassi BTW. I love fonts!!

"Wedding day jitters" for Kathris>

Commission number three for Kathris. Hali loosing control of her nerves on wedding day. Dress is a ST. Pucchi BTW, shoes are designer too but i cant remember the name right now. A massive headache to draw, but it looks good so i dont mind too much. Colored in painter (alto the color looks a bit too "pastel" to me in hindsight) Look for a sequal to this pic sometime in the future.

"Shargg the jag" for Kathris

Commission number 2 for Kathris. Samurai Jaguar. Hard to shred an outfit so baggy, but still turned out well :) Microns and painter (painter kicks photoshops ass in many areas, cheeper too)

"Kathris the tiger" for Kathris

Commission one for Kathris. A portrait of him being tiger-ey. Took a while to get this done, it sat in a sketchbook for a while @_@. Microns and painter

"Foxy Vet lady" for Aluro

Commission for Aluro. A vet freind of his going foxy. fun whith lighting. And i got to draw medical scrubs :D Microns and painter with a lil bit of photoshop.

"Dirk into Chika" for Fiona

OH MY GOD ITS A GENDER SWITCHY KITTY!!! heh, ultra cute anime kitty girl thing. Microns and Painter 7 and fun with drawing baggy clothes.

"Badge for The almighty Foot"

Con-badge-esque Thing commissioned by The great and powerful Footboy. I left the background virtually empty to allow him to add in whatever he wanted (he has quite the flair for the "odd" and is handy with photoshop) Sending an Unflattend psd file on a 56k is sucky LOL. Inked with microns, colored in Painter/photoshop.

"DoDD"

Dodd the trident weilding housecat of terror, staring down all who would challange his 3 feet one inches of wild wild wild furious.....fury. Microns and painter primarily. fun fun fun.

"Pic of Deigo's werewolf boy"

He has a name (at least i think we named him) but i dont remember it. He's red. Wolfing out for the camera inked with micron pens. Colored with trusty Photoshop and Painter.

"Silver Digivolves!!!!"

Silver upgrades to his bigger meanier form...and goes mad with POWER!!!!!!...@_@. Yeah. For those who dont know, typing all those numbers for the background sucks LOL!! Microns and painter and photoshop.

"Silver da Digimon"

silver, gone all digital n stuff,

"Roary version 2.0"

Roary the hypercute werelion boy, version 2. looks like the weeks in the wild have started to "affect" young roary. LOL A little more fuzz, a little more hair and PIERCING BLUE EYES OF KY00TE-NESS!!!! Microns, photoshop, yada yada.

"Paws make kids run faster and jump higher!"

Hyper cute cat kid done for Claw. Behold his mighty blue eyes of kyoote-ness as they stare in bewilderment at his new werelion paws. Prety standard pic for me these days. Getting the angle or his foot/paw right took some finagleing, and I usually dont draw characters sitting (something i need to do more of anyway) All in all I think he turned out sutibly "psuedo-casual". Done in my BIG sketchook and inked with micron pens. Colored with trusty Photoshop.

"Room for one more"

Werewolf Woman reclining, done for Silver. Black fur/scales/hair is evil incarnate. Anyways, its my first decent reclining critter like, ever, so kudos to me for that. Also like her quasi-goofy muzzle expression. Looks a hair too "smooth" to mine eye tho. Ah well, practice practice. Doodled im my BIG sketchbook and inked with microns. Colored in Photoshop.

"Stay outta the bosses stash"

Victoria Selas, orange haired vampire of Hellsing fame *cough* finding out the penalty of partaking of the bosses cigars. A commission for the elven squirrel Fernin. I do rather like it at the moment, playing around with some new tricks for my critters. Still a bit "smooth" but untill i learn the patience to detail each scale its gonna ramain that way. LOL Took quite a while to get this thing done, partially because of the sheer size of the original. once again, microns and photoshop.

Silver the Silverwolf

A portrait of Silverwolf holding Ky Kiske's Electric sword (he likes Guilty gear)  Inked with speedball pens n' nibs and colored in Photoshop.  Also part of my never-ending quest to find better ways to color in Photoshop.  It looks FAR superior than the old school airbrush fuzz.  Simply by zooming in and "painting" with a tiny brush head the effect can be much more solid and varied :)  I like it.

"Can hear those clothes a-rippin'"

College student werewolf bursting out all over in the light of the moon. Done in big sketchbook for mysterious benifactor :D In fact, the pic is SO large that it had to be scanned in chunks (I HATE THAT) and stitched together in photoshop. theres actually a program that does this for u, but its like 500 bucks LOL, so wont be getting that anytime soon. My trusty microns with a boatload of photoshop touchups to hide the stitching and whatnot. a little basic but i like the way her furs frazzin' out.

Orrin the Gargoyle

I love this pic.  Other than the lens flare that shouldn't be there (forgive me) and the fact that his shading is far too uniform (looks better on his perch than it does on him don't it?) the pic is well balanced and, well.. just pretty to look at.  This was another commissioned critter I planned to do a whole series of.  Unfortunately that has not yet happened.

Delta the Black Firebird

Drawn for a guy called Omega. Man this thing took a long time.  At the time I did this I don't believe I had even contemplated drawing bird/people before.  Of course by my current standards he's way over-airbrushed and looks too shiny.  But it was worth drawing at the time at least for the practice I got from constructing his wings.  The color scheme works because black (well dark brown) goes with everything :D

Eric Tigerfox

Eric the Tigerfox drawn for Eric Winchester.  More work with micron brush pens, still too shaky for my tastes at the time but still a good overall effort, but now I see many many many little mistakes that irk me.   Including the dodge/burn shading and stiff, awkward pose.  Gotta love that smile though.

Weregarurumon

This thing is old, and looking at it now darn near blinds me. Drawn for Cearenbow and colored some time later.  No shade of yellow I've ever come across looks good as a base flesh tone on anyone but Bart Simpson.  Shame I didn't know that when I took this thing to Photoshop and gave it perhaps the second tackiest (no, I'm not gonna post THE tackiest) color scheme I've ever inflicted upon the world.  Then to compound the horror I attacked it with indiscriminate airbrushing >_<.  "Why did I post it?" you say?  Primarily to demonstrate to others who may wander across this thing what NOT to do to a picture, and secondly to remind myself of some of the crud I used to produce.  That way I have no excuse for ever, EVER doing it again.  Design wise the pic is O.K. she should have had claws on her toes and her hands aren't on the "ground" as they should be.  I like her head despite her ears being too far forward for her head shape.  Ugh...memories.

Weregarurumon Concept

I've always felt that this was the best of the Cearenbow "weregarurumon" pics by far.  The colors incomplete and her head/face is a disaster, its also done on computer paper but it outright murders the flat, emotionless weregarurumon pics done after it. Its also one of the first pics to sport "the pose" one which I have used far far far too much, mainly due to my own limitations as an artist (things I fought HARD to overcome)  but I still like the thing, perhaps its the "blah" of its compatriots that give this one extra shine :D

Weregarurumon Monster

The final finished weregarurumon pic for Cearenbow.  I have no love for the "random drooling monster" look.  This pic lacks personality to the point that even while good from a technical stand, I really dislike it.  I mean geeze she's not even lookin' at the camera @_@  Oh well, at least it has good contrast.. or somethin'.

SORUDOMON!!!!!!

Another oldie but goodie.  Sora/garudomon from Digimon season one, drawn for Stonegate.  Came out very nice despite the design flaws I see now that I've had more experience.  The anatomy's bad, the shading and lighting are wrong, but I still like the thing.  Long ago I had thought about coloring this thing.  I think that I may do a new one someday and give it my modern treatment. :D

Eric the Lion

More art for the never-ending Eric Winchester.  Eric as a werelion, smiling all cheesy-like.  I like this pic too despite it having similar shading problems as the others in the set.  Once again done with sHaKy microns, but getting better nonetheless.

Terry and Andy Bogard as W.wolves

Another oldie drawn for Eric Fox (sheese) The Bogard brothers of fatal fury fame, drawn very poorly @_@.  More extraneous lens flare that shouldn't be, and even more bad lighting/airbrushing  There's no faster way to make fur look like plastic X_X  (I'm thinking the tool should be sealed with a magic crest until you've done at least 300 pics in Photoshop)

Ox Drawn for The Ox

No, I don't usually draw "exposed" manly (or Ox-ly) bulges on pics, but I made an exception for long time buddy The Ox.  Still kept it "modest" so to speak, and tried to balance it a bit by keeping the pic light and goofy instead of salacious or well.. sticky X_X (tacky things irk me)  Inked and colored in Photoshop.  Its another victim of the "too light and uniform" (took a long time to break myself of that bad habit as you can no doubt tell) airbrushing syndrome, but I was fond of how the fur around his ankles looked.  Meh

Misty as a were-ion

Misty as a were Flareion/ Vaporion/Joltion drawn for Cearenbow.  Listen good kiddies and learn the dangers or whoring the airbrush tool in Photoshop.  the pic in itself isn't too bad, other than her stupidly long arms, I think I did a decent job of combining the 3 critters without making it look TOO gaudy.  Pity about that blue background though.  Color theory=IMPORTANT! @_@.

Eric Winchester-wolf

The fourth and weakest of the first set of "Eric critters" I like how what's left of his jeans look, I love the little doodles I did for the background, but his face/ teeth/ feet/ hands are a disaster.  Purple background is cute LOL, but ugh, this fails to impress me now.  Helps teach one the importance of making a definite plan for pics in advance.

Ash Ketchum as a Charmelion

Color request for "Stonegate" One of the first if not THE first pic I colored using "Al Mackeys Photoshop Tutorial" (see link at left).  This pic is probably the best "cgi" pic I did for a long while, in my early days, I'm assuming because the color scheme was pre-established.  After this pic my color work hit the dregs for a long while.  Took time for me to learn that color theory IS important.

Zell as an Ifrit (FF8)

This thing rocks :D  Based on the designs by Tetsuya Nomura, and drawn once again with an automatic pencil. Done for Stonegate After his similarly themed "Squall/Bahamut" His horns are a bit crooked and I don't much like his hands anymore but a very very nice effort for its age.  Which of course infuriates me to no end when I see some of the crap produced after this.

Zell as a w.tiger

Drawn for stoney a couple years ago in an old sketchbook with an automatic pencil (I like those) He's woefully thin for a tiger and I wish I had known more about tiger stripe patterns back then.  I think it would have looked better with an accurate pattern, as well as some sort of neck LOL.  Looking back I started to realize that bad lighting/shading with a pencil still looks better than bad lighting/shading  with an airbrush, by FAR.

Squall the Bahamut

This picture is was almost perfect except for that blasted hand!!!  argh! Once again drawn for stoney in the olden days.  Based off Tetsuya Nomura's FF8 designs of course.  As I recall I did this in a local library when I was supposed to be studying for ..... something, I don't recall.  Curse you, you blasted hand, along with bad lighting...argh.  well one day I may draw a sequel to this.  A good way to see what I've learned in the 3 or so years since this one was produced.

Wereshark

A wereshark drawn for Dino a little over a year ago I believe.  Anatomically I really like it, and plan to draw more when time allows.  From a technical standpoint however there are lots of little things wrong with this pic, first and foremost, at least to me looking back, is the inconsistent light source, and that his left our right) leg makes no sense in that perspective. @_@.  Ah well, live and learn.

Long and Yugo from Bloodyroar 2, showing off for the ladies.

Done for Eric Winchester circa 2000.  At the time of its creation I was quite proud of how Long (the tiger in foreground) turned out.  Looking back at it now its still looks "decent", which is more than I can say about poor Yugo or the malnourished, deformed "females" in the pic.

Eric Winchester-cheetah

Eric the werecheetah.  Again inked with Micron brush pens and better than the previous effort.  Still not nearly as smooth a line quality as I was looking for, but I take improvement where I can get it. :D  A pretty decent pic despite the dodge/burn shading (a technique I learned a quick dislike for, tends to make my shadows too dark and my highlights too bright)

Eric Winchester the fox

Drawn for Eric Winchester.  Pretty good except for that wonky shoulder, but laser printer paper has little tooth for holding colored pencils and tends to look bad when scanned.  Wish I had known that then. :P

JOEDOMON

Another "Stonegate" request.  Scanned in 2 chunks and stitched together in Photoshop before I knew how to do it and make it look less obvious.  A pretty good pic even tho it is boring (a problem a lot o' my early stuff suffers from) and has many many anatomy quibbles. I hope to do some new digi-destined-mon someday.  If for no other reason than to draw Zudomon again (one of my favorites)

Ogrebear

Drawn for Ogrebear.  I'm still impressed I managed to do such a good job on this thing.  Except for the bad right hand position and what has to be a "clone tool" shadow around his feet its almost passable.   I managed to get a semi-consistent light source and correct anatomy AND get the folds right on his lil' loin cloth.   When I looks at  the other pics done around the same time I don't know whether to be proud of what I DID accomplish with this one, or embarrassed at what I didn't accomplish, but was clearly capable of in other pics this old.
